About the Owner

tim-brown-snap-agency

When I was 12 my bus stop was at the library, and I found my way over to the computers and into the wonderful weird new world of the internet. The story of me becoming a web designer isn’t quite linear, but I found myself fascinated with creative ideas, music, art and poetry. Later on, when I was part of a couple different musical projects I had to work on the branding and design for them, and found that I liked it, and was damn good at it. That brought me to graphic design, and graphic design and the desire to share the most value possible brought me to web design. I found out I really liked to code, and I really like learning about and helping people tell the stories of their business to the world.

The clients came out of the woodwork, I realized the demand for this kind of service is high, and people appreciate help expressing the core of their business. I found some things that set me apart; my drive, emphasis on making things simple and easy to use, and my natural knack for understanding and practically applying marketing principles. Because I deeply enjoy my work, I work quite a bit, and work hard. This means I get better and better, but my time is in demand.

I have a Degree in ‘Graphic Design: Web & Interactive Media’ and a certificate in Print Design from Minneapolis Community & Technical College. I’ve worked as Art Director and then Director of Marketing at Snap Agency in Minneapolis, before moving on to full-time Freelance as of December 2016.

Digital Marketing Director – Mall of America

“Tim did a great job conceptualizing and building a custom WordPress template to house the Mall of America blog. From the beginning of the project, Tim took a goal-oriented approach to making sure our needs were met. From wireframes to design and development, he ensured we were building a site that would help showcase the experience of being at Mall of America®. Tim paid attention to many details and worked with us to ensure the site design was compelling and delivered content to our guests in a meaningful, interactive way.”

“By listening to our wants, understanding our needs, and finishing at budget right on schedule made this just a wonderful experience. Working with Tim was definitely a high point – you could tell that he was having fun. We began to expect the unexpected especially when the streaming video on our homepage. That in itself highlighted one of our needs which was to convey the ‘handmade’ aspect of our process.”

Joshua Swisher Website
Owner – Northface Construction

“From the very first meeting with Tim I knew he was the guy to go with for my businesses online needs. He took a deep interest in understanding what my business was about and our vision for the future. The whole process went very smooth and I felt like he was able to express what we are about in a way that we could not have made tangible the way he did. The standards were set very clearly as far as what our goals were with the project and his knowledge of online platform design and marketing established a clear strategy as to how we would achieve those goals through the website design. I would recommend Tim to anyone who values the depth of quality that is needed to really stand out with their business to possible clients.”

Kristin Beltaos Website
Food Allergy Consultant / Licensed Trainer – A Gift of Miles

“Working with Tim is miraculous, and I can say that because this was my third website revision in five years. Tim took the time to learn about my business, understand the markets that I serve and implement a human connection to my site that was previously missing…all while keeping design, architecture and SEO in mind. He’s organized and structured in his communication and has a strong attention to detail, all traits that are appreciated because as a busy entrepreneur I don’t have the time to project manage hired vendors. To give an example of his value…Tim guided me on how to write for the web, ensuring that I would acquire more traffic to my site — which was previously non-existent. Whether you’re looking for a new website or an update you won’t be disappointed in selecting Tim. He’s THE BEST website experience that I’ve had and I look forward to continuing my partnership with him in the future.”

“Working with 3M, Apple, JVC and many other blue chip corporations, for 3 decades, exposed me to the work of many talented writers and designers. Like some of them, Tim Brown is on a special path. His aggressive creative style and his desire to master digital tools sets him apart. Unlike most talent, Tim immediately displays an ‘I get it insight’ into the creative marketing problems he is presented. Better yet, he then wastes no time expressing and proving he got it. He is highly conceptual and possesses a unique ability to solve communication problems through design.”

“Tim Brown is an emerging professional with the interpersonal skills and media marketing know-how of a veteran in the web design business. Both the Loring Pasta Bar and Varsity Theater have worked with Tim to re-imagine our web presence — he has proven to be dedicated, hardworking, and knowledgeable of media trends and analytics. He guaranteed us a quick turnaround, and got us mock-ups even sooner than we expected. I recommend Tim to any business looking for a creative web designer who is efficient, and fun to work with. We’re lucky to have found him.”

“MDC is incredibly pleased with the result of our website’s redesign—our new site meets our goals of being mobile-friendly, streamlined, and stimulating. The new organization and design create a unique experience for browsers and articulate MDC’s company culture and mission simultaneously. We recommend utilizing Tim Brown’s design talents for all businesses looking to take their consumer experience to the next level.”

“Tim did a fantastic job bringing our blog from concept and design to reality. He had great knowledge and expertise in guiding us through the process of creating a blog and bringing it through life. He was always a phone call or email away if I ever had a question or concern and help us through this brand new world. We could not have done this project without him, he was a great asset to our blog team.”

Mike Drahota   Website
Owner, Operator – Whiskers to Tails Petsitting

“Six months ago we were reading Tim Brown’s client reviews just like you are now. We decided to contact Tim based on the reviews we read. That decision turned out to be one of the best actions our company, Whiskers To Tails Petsitting, has made in our seven years of business.
Our website is the primary marketing tool for our business, so we rely on it to produce 95% of our new clients. We had two primary goals in working with a web designer:
1. Our new website had to be mobile compatible
2. The new website had to attract and convert more of our ideal clients
After meeting with Tim in person, we were impressed with his listening skills, professional manner, and his sincere interest in our business goals. It was an easy decision to move forward with Tim.
He moved very quickly from design to final edits to a live new site for us in about six weeks. He had to wait for us a couple of times or it would have been completed sooner.
Since our new website went live in early May, the results have been better than we anticipated which is why this review should have been done earlier! Our sales have increased from 20% to 40% on a daily basis, and the site performs perfectly from a mobile phone. We have added five additional staff members to handle the increase in business. Another unforeseen benefit is that our “now hiring” page has attracted high quality applicants to help us keep up with the demand for pet sitting.
Obviously we highly recommend Tim Brown for your next project, you should too.”

Mark Galloway   Website  5/5 ★★★★★

“Since we started working with Tim B Design on our SEO efforts at the beginning of this last fall – we’ve DOUBLED THE TRAFFIC on our website year over year. In that time we leveraged Tim’s design prowess to help us modify the site significantly and to focus on our product offering rather than our services. We have been able to better tell our story to prospects and investors resulting in increased buy-in and new customers. Tim gets it! He is highly collaborative and is focused on increasing our conversions – not just driving targeted traffic. He checks in regularly to make sure the people contacting us are the right kinds of leads. This goes beyond web design and SEO – working with Tim is working a business partner who is in it to win it with us.”
